A recap of this week's Wisdom Wednesday with Zach and Meggs. Headline items: Snipe the Summer launches Monday, August 10, the Avatar Legends sponsored leaderboard and club365 tournament wrapped, and the native rebuild moved into internal testing.
Snipe the Summer launches Monday
Our second annual Snipe the Summer runs August 10 through September 6. A countdown banner goes up by the weekend, the full rules go live Sunday at reset, and the event starts at 2PM PT on Monday.
There is a new battle mode built for this event, and whether it stays past the event depends on how it plays out. Last year's items and gifts carry an advantage this year, so if you have the snipe gifts from last year, you and your team benefit. If you don't, team up or co-host with someone who does. In-event progress tracking is in for this one, so you can see where you stand as you go.
Avatar Legends leaderboard
Our second sponsored leaderboard for Avatar Legends: the Fighting Game has wrapped, with 157,000 gifts sent across the four elements. Fire won with 47,000 gifts and Water came second with 46,000, with Fire pulling ahead on larger gifts and Water sending more of the smaller ones.
Congrats to Avatar champion @queendragon and to every podium finisher. All event items and gifts are now distributed. A backend change to how items open caused a short delay, and it is fixed, so if you are missing an item you think you earned, contact support.
On sponsored events going forward: app-wide leaderboards like this are a trial for now, and there will be more. These events stay open to everyone, with specific extras for the category being featured.
club365 tournament
The club365 tournament has come to a close. Congrats to our winner @ronilove and her top gifter @dr_tiff!
Every participant gets a 365 bucket hat, and the address request lands in your Activity Feed in the next few days (the Activity Feed is at the top of your profile inbox, separate from your messages). Division winners get custom jackets, new this time, and will be asked for an address for both the hat and the jacket.
The native rebuild
The rebuild of the app is in internal testing now, and the team is happy with where it is. It’s not complete, so expect a few weeks before external beta testers get it. This is a rebuild of the current app that goes into the App Store, not a separate app to download. A handful of crucial features need to ship before the app is out of beta, so there is more coming between now and then.
Subtember & subs
Subtember is a smaller event in September centered on subscriptions, where renewals count for more points than new subs. More to come on this as we get closer to end of month.
On sub badges, the earlier you subscribe, the higher your badge number, and that number grows over time. Badges will also look slightly different in the rebuild.
Affiliates
Becoming an affiliate is a nomination system right now. Someone nominates you, ideally an existing affiliate, and approval is case by case. More is coming for affiliates, tied to features launching after the rebuild, and the role will come with higher standards and more responsibilities.
Fav Creator Tournaments
If a tournament hits 10 million coins or more in total spend, it becomes a Big Fav Tournament (BFT), and the host earns a medal for it that they can show on their profile.
An in-app event calendar is also coming to give more visibility into what is scheduled.
Beta program
We want beta testers, especially Android users and anyone on a newer iPhone, since older iPhones are hard to support.
For app testing, email beta@favorited.com, and for Studio access, email studio@favorited.com and keep your Apple software updated. The point is feedback, not early access, and anyone not contributing feedback can be removed. If you hit a glitch, even outside the beta, message support with detail: screenshots, screen recordings, and what was happening.
New here
For new users, the advice is to introduce yourself, meet people, and see how others are streaming and engaging. Join someone's boxes and games, then co-host once you can go live. Cross-post from Instagram, TikTok, and X, link people to your live, and share your web profile at fav.com/username.
Favorited is community-based, and the more social you are, the more success you will have.
Growth and the algorithm
The algorithm is changing. You will start to see a visible marker when something in your live gives you a boost, with more ways to earn one and more clarity on how. Turning on the notification bell for creators you follow raises where you show up for them.
For smaller creators, collaboration matters most: co-host, join battles, and clip yourself for other platforms, and clipping limits are easing soon.
A few more things
- Streak freezing: if something will take you away from the app, like an active duty deployment, contact support to freeze your streak. This will be built into the app later.
- Taxes on coin purchases are based on where you are physically located, and requirements vary by state and country.
- Tradable items are coming, but not by spooky season. Possibly by snowy season, and tied to the rebuild.
