A recap of this week's Wisdom Wednesday with Zach and Meggs. Headline items: Snipe the Summer, app rebuild is approaching public beta, Subtember starts September 1, the new Fav Event Calendar is live, and the team shared more about what is ahead for events, creator discovery, and growth.
Snipe the Summer is helping shape what comes next
Snipe the Summer runs through September 6 at reset, and the event has now passed 215,300 90s battles. Week 2 alone accounted for 108,525 90s battles.
As Snipe the Summer moves into its second half, the team is paying close attention to how the community is using Snipe Mastery, 90-second battles, and the rest of the event experience.
The bigger takeaway is that these events are also a chance to learn what keeps gameplay fun and rewarding over time. That feedback is already feeding into future seasons and events, with the goal of creating more variety and more ways to participate.
Spooky Season will be an important next step. It will be the first major seasonal event on the rebuilt app, and we now has a dedicated team and more resources focused on building events. We heard the community loud and clear on the parts of past seasons people loved most: storytelling, surprises, unlockables, and ways to play together that are not solely tied to coin spend. Expect those ideas to keep informing what comes next.
The Fav Event Calendar is live
The new Fav Event Calendar is now live in Discover, giving the community a central place to see what is coming up and look back at past Favorited events.
Past event pages can include details like dates, medals, rewards, and other event-specific items. Approved official creator tournaments can also be added to the calendar, while individual creator events will continue to live in Scheduled Events.
Kings & Queens of Favorited, hosted last week by 1el_chapoescobar, was as a great example of an official creator tournament. The tournament paired naturally with the 90-second Snipe format, reached BFT status, and unlocked the tournament prize pot.
Military & First Responders Tournament
Another approved official creator tournament is coming September 12, hosted by hunters2120 and drunksocialite for military members, veterans, and first responders.
The tournament will use a rumble-style format with four-person free-for-alls, three-strike elimination, and three-minute battles. If you are eligible and interested in participating, fill out the interest form here.
Active and former military members can also request a military badge for their Favorited profile by messaging Support.
Subtember
September's event is all about subscriptions. Subtember starts September 1 and is designed to run more in the background alongside everything else happening on Fav.
A few things we previewed:
- There will be multiple ways to unlock Sub Star variants.
- Two new permanent subscriber-only gifts are coming, including a lower-value and a higher-value option.
- The event includes a points system tied to subscriptions and Sub Star gifting.
The Subtember launch will include a countdown, comprehensive written rules, and a live walkthrough so everyone can see how the event works before jumping in.
The app rebuild is approaching beta
The app rebuild is getting close to one of its biggest milestones yet. The first beta testers are expected to begin using the rebuilt app by the end of this week, with more of the current feature set being added throughout the testing period.
The target is to have everyone on the rebuilt version of Favorited by Spooky Season on October 1.
This is the largest development effort in the app's history. Favorited's original infrastructure made it possible for a very small team to build and ship the app across iOS and Android, and the rebuild creates a new foundation designed for the scale, features, games, and experiences the platform is growing into.
For beta testers, feedback will be especially important during this phase. The team wants to hear what is working, what is missing, and anything else testers notice as the rebuilt experience rolls out.
What the rebuild unlocks
The rebuild is not only about the foundation of the app. It also clears the way for larger product plans that have been waiting on that new infrastructure.
We shared that some of the major ways people will interact with Favorited and get discovered in the future do not exist in the app yet. Those experiences are part of the broader vision for what comes after the rebuild.
That is also why Favorited's larger marketing push is being timed around the platform's next phase. The plan is to ramp broader growth efforts as the rebuilt product and the next set of core features come into place, while continuing to build on the community already here.
More visibility into discovery
The team is also working toward making the algorithm easier to understand and engage with. The +Algo experience should become more visible, with the goal of giving creators a more direct understanding of the actions that help them get seen.
In the meantime, the growth advice from the stream was consistent: show up regularly, engage with the community, build a schedule people can come back to, and share what you are creating outside the app too.
Clips are an especially important piece of that. We’re scoping ways to make clipping available below Level 4 and make the clipping experience easier to use from a phone.
The larger philosophy is not simply maximizing viewer counts. The goal is meaningful interaction and building communities where people consistently come back, participate, and connect.
Studio updates
Pop-out chat is currently in Studio beta, giving Studio users a more flexible way to keep chat visible while streaming. Studio now has its own dedicated product team and more features are in development.
