A recap of this week's Wisdom Wednesday with Zach and Meggs. Headline items: our second sponsored leaderboard event is live for Avatar Legends: the Fighting Game and ends Sunday, the club365 tournament is in its semifinals, gamer ranks are now out of beta, and the native rebuild has moved into internal testing.
Avatar Legends on Fav
Our second sponsored leaderboard event focused on Avatar Legends: the Fighting Game, kicked off July 28 and runs through August 2 at reset.
For five days, send and receive four gifts each representing one of the four bending elements: Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. All four elements have their own streamer and gifter leaderboards!
Scoring is simple. On the leaderboard, 7 coins is 1 point, so a 700 coin gift is 100 points, and seven is a meaningful number in the Avatar world. Anyone who reaches the podium, as a streamer or a gifter, wins a plushie. They come as a mystery box, so you won't know which character you have until it's open, and some are rare. The team also decided live that the most-viewed game clip will win one too.
If you’re playing Avatar Legends: the Fighting Game - share your clips streaming the game on Fav to earn an exclusive event medal. Make sure to use the hashtag #FavAvatar and tag @favoritedapp and @avatar_fighters
club365 tournament
The club365 tournament is in the semifinals, with 330 creators in this round. Semifinals run through tomorrow (July 30), narrowing each division from 16 to 8. Division finals are Friday and the overall finals are Sunday, with no battles on Saturday. Every participant earns a free 365 bucket hat.
For questions or suggestions, email 365@favorited.com. One idea raised this week is making past 365 caps available to buy, limited to club365 members, with a version set aside for past winners who keep their streak. That's still being discussed, and more merch and more streak recognition are on the way.
As a reminder, club365 is for anyone with a streak of 365 days or more, and it's now thousands of members strong.
Gamer ranks and medals
Gamer ranks are officially out of beta. Weekly podium medals are going out, and the team granted them retroactively, so some profiles turned on to find several at once!
The category is meant to be flexible. A stream needs to be gaming for at least half its length to count, not the whole time, so chatting between games or after a session is fine. You need to be on Studio gaming for that portion, and starting a battle switches you off the gaming category automatically. A manual category switch is also coming.
For now, gamer ranks cover digital video games streamed through Studio, including mobile games run through it. Things like Uno or Dungeons and Dragons don't count yet, and the definition will get sharper over time. Showing a video or someone else's gameplay doesn't count either. It has to be you playing live, and points come off if it isn't.
There's also a Favorited gaming page on Instagram, where featured clips and co-posts with gamers will roll out over time. Check it out: @favoritedgaming
The native rebuild
The full rebuild moved into internal testing this week and is already usable. Beta testers get it not long after, and the full transition follows from there.
This is the fix for disconnects, reconnects, and lives going to sleep. They come from the infrastructure the app was first built on, which was never meant to carry what the app does now. Instead of patching one problem at a time on a system we're leaving, the team is focused on landing the rebuild, where these get solved together.
It isn't a new app to download. You'll re-download Favorited and it'll come back as the same app, with a cleaner look and the same core features. What changes is stability, which makes the boxes, timers, widgets, and better audio and video much easier to ship. Before the rebuild, expect a few more widgets and some streak features.
New categories
More stream categories are coming, including things like music and shows, though there's no specific timeline that we can share just yet.
The algorithm
The algorithm is built to connect people with the streamers they want to watch, not to serve ads, since there's no ad model. That's the whole aim, and it drives every ranking choice.
The team is watching the data, taking feedback, and tuning it over time. +Algo is coming soon, along with a visible marker when something in your live gives you a boost.
Filters
After last week's filters conversation, here's where things stand. Yes to color and saturation, brightness, clarity, and lighting adjustments, and to smoothing. Character overlays and VTubing are in, and so are overlay gifts, like a hat or a temporary effect sent your way, plus green screen. No to face reshaping and AI streamers. Any AI in the app is there to support real people, not replace them. Makeup is still an open internal question and won't be in the first set.
Filters will be yours to control. Smoothing looks like it will be adjustable by level, and even at the highest setting you'll still look like yourself. You can also turn filters off entirely.
Beta program
We're always looking for more beta testers at beta@favorited.com. The point is to give feedback and help make the app better, not to get early access. Testers sign an NDA, and anyone who isn't contributing feedback can be removed, since there are no perks or previews to chase here.
What's coming next
Snipe the Summer is set for August 10 and is the next big in-app event. September has something planned too - more to come on that.
