Emergency Request
For urgent situations involving an imminent threat to life or serious physical injury, law enforcement agencies should submit an Emergency Disclosure Request via our designated law enforcement email at lawenforcement@favorited.com
Important Guidelines
To ensure a swift and effective response, please follow these guidelines:
- Provide Clear Identifiers: Include specific details to help us locate the relevant records, such as the user’s Favorited username or any associated user ID.
- Prioritize the Subject Line: Clearly state the nature of your request and the type of emergency in the subject line (e.g., “URGENT: Emergency Disclosure Request – Imminent Threat to Life. Also, please refer to QA to see what qualifies as an emergency) to help ensure timely handling.
- Limit the Scope: Narrow your request to a specific time frame and relevant data to expedite processing.
- Authorized Submitters Only: All emergency requests must be submitted by a sworn law enforcement officer and originate from an official law enforcement email domain (if submitted via email).
Avoid Misuse of Emergency Requests
Not all situations qualify as emergencies. Emergency requests are reserved strictly for circumstances involving immediate danger to life or serious physical harm. Misuse of this channel may delay critical responses (Refer to the QA of what qualifies as an emergency)
For Non-Emergency Inquiries
Non-law enforcement personnel aware of an emergency situation should immediately and directly contact local law enforcement officials.
Preservation Request Requirements
Law enforcement agencies must submit preservation requests on official agency letterhead, include an authorized signature, and provide clear identifiers for the account(s) in question—such as usernames, types of data to be preserved, and relevant date ranges.
Upon valid receipt, Favorited will retain the specified data for an initial 90-day period. A one-time 90-day extension may be granted if a formal request is submitted within the original preservation window. Additional extensions beyond this period are generally not supported.
Please note: If no formal legal process (e.g., subpoena, court order, or search warrant) is received by the end of the preservation period, the retained data may be permanently deleted.
User Notification
We aim to notify users prior to disclosing their data to law enforcement, unless doing so is legally prohibited, could interfere with an active investigation, or may pose a risk of harm. Law enforcement must clearly indicate if any of these exceptions apply and provide appropriate justification.
Each request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. When disclosure is permitted, we will provide notice to the user so they have an opportunity to understand the nature of the request and, if appropriate, challenge it.
