Changing your business type from Individual to Business (or vice versa) on Stripe Connect

Individual vs Business

1. Select Individual if you are an individual without a registered business.
2. Select Business if you are registered as a business.
3. Business types available to select:
   • Sole proprietorship
   • Single-Member LLC 
   • Multi-Member LLC
   • Private partnership
   • Private corporation
   • Other

NOTE: Sole proprietorship and Single-Member LLC do not need to add their EIN but all other business types require this.

How to Change Business Type on Stripe Connect

1. Log in to Stripe Express. Go to https://connect.stripe.com/express_login
   
2. Tap the More icon.
   
3. Tap Settings.
    
4. Scroll to business type. Tap edit.
   

5. Select desired type (Business or Individual). If business, select Business type.
   

   NOTE: Single-Member LLC’s or Sole Proprietorship can keep their SSN, other business types will have to update their EIN.
    

6. To add EIN, scroll to business details. Tap edit.
   

7. Enter EIN and Legal business name exactly how it appears on your IRS-issued documents.
   

   Tip: Check Letter 147C or SS-4 for your EIN and business name.
