4. Select USB Audio Accessories.

Verify iRig Connection
-
Check Physical Connections:
- Ensure the iRig is plugged into your computer or mobile device.
Note: We have found that plugging the iRig directly into your computer works better than using a hub. - If using iRig with a smartphone, confirm that you are using the correct adapter (Lightning to 3.5mm or USB-C to 3.5mm, if necessary).
- If using iRig HD or iRig Pro, verify that it is powered on.
- Ensure the iRig is plugged into your computer or mobile device.
-
Confirm Device Recognition:
- For Windows, click Control Panel > Sound > Recording Tab and check if iRig is listed.
- For Mac, open System Settings > Sound > Input and ensure the iRig is detected.
- If the device is not detected, try using a different USB port or restarting your computer.
Set iRig as the Default Audio Input
For Windows:
- Right-click the sound icon in the system tray and select Sounds.
- Click the Recording tab.
- Select iRig and click Set as Default Device.
- Click Apply and OK.
For Mac:
- Open System Settings > Sound.
- Under Input, select iRig.
Configure iRig in OBS
- Open OBS Studio.
- Go to Sources and click the + icon.
- Select Audio Input Capture.
- Name the source, then click OK.
- In the Device dropdown, select iRig.
- Click OK and check the Audio Mixer to ensure input is detected.
Adjust Audio Levels
- In OBS Audio Mixer, ensure the iRig input level is not muted.
- Click the gear icon and select Advanced Audio Properties.
- Set Audio Monitoring to Monitor and Output to hear the audio in real-time.
Fix No Sound or Low Volume Issues
For Windows:
- Open Sound Settings > Device Properties > Additional Device Properties.
- Under the Levels tab, increase the microphone volume.
- Under the Enhancements tab, disable any audio enhancements that may interfere.
For Mac:
- Go to Audio MIDI Setup (Press Cmd + Spacebar and search for it).
- Select iRig and check if it’s muted or has low input gain.
- Adjust the format to 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz if needed.
Resolve Latency or Distorted Audio
Reduce Latency:
- In OBS, go to Settings > Audio.
- Under General, set Sample Rate to match iRig’s settings (44.1 kHz or 48 kHz).
- Under Advanced, set Audio Monitoring Device to Default or your preferred output.
Fix Distorted Audio:
- Check the gain control on iRig if available and lower it to prevent clipping.
- Reduce background noise using OBS Noise Suppression (click the gear icon in Audio Mixer > Filters > Noise Suppression).
- If using iRig HD or iRig Pro, update its firmware via IK Multimedia’s website.
Test and Restart
- Restart OBS and reconnect the iRig device.
- If the issue persists, restart your computer and try again.
- Test the microphone in another application (e.g., Voice Recorder, GarageBand) to rule out OBS-specific issues.
- If none of the steps work, try using a different USB port or cable.
