Voicemeeter Banana Quick Tips
Open Voicemeeter Banana. There are 5 inputs and 5 outputs. Here's the basic layout:
On the left, we have 3 Hardware Inputs — these are physical devices like your mic.
In the center, we have 2 Virtual Inputs — software sound sources like system audio or specific applications.
On the right, we have Outputs — A1, A2, A3 for physical outputs like headphones or speakers, and B1/B2 for virtual outputs, used to send audio to other apps such as Favorited Studio.
Connect Microphone and Headset
In Voicemeeter Banana, click on 'Hardware Input 1' and select your microphone from the list. You should now see activity in the meter when you speak. You can adjust your mic level using the slider and control where the audio goes using the A and B buttons. For now, let’s send the mic to A1 (our headphones) and B1 (the virtual output)."
Route Desktop Audio
To route system audio through Voicemeeter, go to your Windows sound settings. Set your default playback device to 'Voicemeeter Input (VB-Audio Voicemeeter VAIO)'. This sends all desktop audio through Voicemeeter.
Route Studio Audio
Next, route audio coming FROM Studio to a different input within Voicemeeter Banana. This separates audio sources and will remove any feedback loop echo received during co-hosting. To do this, click on the speaker icon in the top right above the canvas within Studio:
Setup Audio Mix
Now adjust levels between your mic and desktop audio using the sliders.
Route them however you like, however, we recommend:
- A1 for your local monitor (headphones)
- B1 and B2 for sending to other applications
A common setup: Send mic and desktop to B1, Studio virtual input and desktop to your headphones (A1).
B1 is now setup for your source within Studio.
Add Mixed Audio to Studio
Add the source in Studio, select 'Voicemeeter Out B1'.
